SHOW BOX # 39 MARJOLEIN WITTE

I am floating in the most peculiar way is a window installation inspired by the concept of water, fitting with the location of the historic bridge kiosk at the Parksluizen, overlooking the water of the Nieuwe Maas. The installation is a graphic construction with shapes borrowed from old Dutch marine paintings.

Marjolein Witte (Eindhoven, 1979) lives and works in Utrecht. Color explosions, geometric shapes, large installations and plant confetti are the elements that shape her diverse work. The construction of our environment is the thematic thread. Frames, rules, manipulation and territoriality are some of the themes she is researching, wondering how she relates to those elements.

Her 3D and 2D art works and installations are sometimes subtle, at other times with a mild activist undertone, but always with attention to form, color and composition. Het work has been previously shown at, among others, the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, Big Art Zaandam and at Barfotastigen in Finland.
